Belinda Davies

I exhibit a leaning towards an idiosyncratic working process embracing a multitude of mediums. Feminine identity and the emotional depths associated with this are strong influences within my work. Often my own personal experiences are referenced. Meandering through the provocative, comedic and dark, my pieces are rarely aesthetic and, on the odd occasion when they are, a subversive undercurrent belies them. Essentially my whole premise is to prompt the viewer to reflect and question a seemingly dichotomous contradiction between social expectation and the lived experience of reality which is often rife with historical legacies and deep rooted ideologies.
This summer I will graduate with a BA in Fine Art and having been offered a place on the MFA at ARU I hope to continue my studies, funding permitting.
