Kayleigh Cole
My work composes photographic elegies of abandoned structures that are left to slowly deteriorate in anticipation of redevelopment or demolition. This fragile relationship between function and destruction provides the opportune time to investigate forgotten spaces that are full of history and beauty. Through the medium of colour photography I aim to transform ordinary observations into sublime experiences. My work intends to question conventional ideas of beauty and exposes often unnoticed and unappreciated aspects of our everyday lives as being integral fragments of the whole.
