My National Identity Project: FIND BULGARIA
This project, commissioned in September, is the major project of the education course undertaken by me during the last two years in the Graphic design department of Anglia Ruskin University.
My intention was to formulate a complex task that would enable me to present in the best way not only possible design and performance skills, but also to share some of my personal considerations, as far as creativity and representation activities in a rather broader context are concerned. Creating a logo is a specific type of an effort but imprinting and establishing a combined vivid image, meant to influence, manipulate and deliberately satisfy certain purposes, is what I recon to be more challenging and exciting.
On the basis of this presumption the choice of the particular topic was made rather naturally. The country that I come from is no doubt something that I am instinctively familiar with. Presenting it is an opportunity for me to analyze not only the mechanism of identity creation but also to specify my personal understanding of motherland and what makes it so different and unique.
My general concept is about mythology. Mythologies are the everlasting archetype of mankind. The mythological narratives have always been the core of visual communication. They never fail to work, to influence and communicate. Their symbols are directly perceivable and their language is universal. That is way I decided to trust mythology as an universal language of mankind to present an unknown country on the Balkans. Placed on a crossroad between the West and the East, my country has always been the land of fairy tales and magic, on the verge of reality and illusion. Wars, victories, glory and misery have formed the mentality of its people. History and mythology are mixed in the national conscience of the Bulgarians in a way that combines Christianity and paganism in a magic alloy. My concept was developing around the matters of the Gods that Bulgarians carry in their hearts and what these Gods make out of these Bulgarians.

Great project! Impressing and so original. The personal affinity is the most important and intense element of any artwork.
