A Life in Ink
My project focuses on the social perceptions of tattooing and people with tattoos. I believe that people with tattoos are seen to be lesser people in the eyes of the social classes.
Through my project I hope to show that tattooing is more than an art form, it is a personal expression of inner feelings and desire. Many of the models that I spoke to had different feelings about what their tattoos mean to them. But the common theme that came from the pictures and statements; was that their ink is their form of personal expression- and if people in society look down on them for that then that is their own misgivings.
Whilst researching this project, I found a quote that I feel sums up what I am trying to say with this project, “my ink’s my mark on society”. I feel that this says everything about tattooing and the social indifference that tattooed people have to deal with on a daily basis. I hope that I can help to change social perceptions.
