Linda Toogood

My art has derived from my fascination with maps, which I de-construct and reassemble into new forms. I have not only investigated my own movement in the domestic space, but also the movement of paint on paper, which creates it’s own pattern, drawing similarities between the infrastructure networks of cities as well as the bio structures of human anatomy, and even planetary systems.

In the Cartographies of Movement series, I have hand-cut large drawings of my own mapped movements to create a sculptural form, offering an alternative view of time, space and movement

The process of production and mark making is an important part of my practice. I enjoy the element of play, using the inherent qualities of found materials to generate new meaning.
