Rachel Hunt

My practice addresses the fascination I have with the combination of photographic imagery and sculpture. I began experimenting with printing onto various materials to see how it would change the perception of an image, presenting numerous connotations and narratives. The origin or utilitarian reference point is not what is important; it is the material itself and its possibility as a vehicle for the photographic image, creating a new physical context for the image.

I am primarily interested in the hierarchies of display and the incorporation of diverse material creating a specific environment for the viewer, presenting them with unexpected combinations. Creating scenarios and depicting specific scenes deliberately with the tactility of the object, looking at the resonance of both material and image and how to use this imagery to echo visual dialogue.

I really like the transition with including objects with your work, very good. I especially like the first photo with the tray and dishes. :-)
