This project is an experiment that asks if and how poetry may influence the design process and therefore the design itself to be more interesting, original and emotional. The experiment is done by simply doing ordinary live project (in this case brand for a fashion designer) and including poetry into that project. The poetry is introduced after the initial research stage in the design process.
Arrows in the scheme point from the sub step to the particular content elements or from content element to another content element. If the one letter arrow point to content element that has direct influence to other content elements the chain of influences start to develop. This way we can track poetry influence to other design process elements and answer the “how” question – how can poetry influence the design process.
Poetry has significantly influenced the research stage in the design process by helping to reveal more useful information. The use of emotions in the poetry stage has given the way to focus on feelings that the brand may evoke. Poems themselves were a direct base for the graphic pieces. The experiment have answered the “how” question but the “if” question can only be judged subjectively and I leave it to you.
Below are 3 fragments from the scheme. You can discover the whole thing here
