Hannah Yates

My interests lie in narrative illustration for storybooks, where I enjoy working in a series with existing texts/themes. Up until this project, my work has always been very traditional in medium, relaying on ink, drawing, and occasionally using photoshop to piece sections together. My work has now moved on to gradually become more digital, using a mix of scanned ink drawings and digital collage.

Exhibited at the Degree Show is my final major project, a book containing 12 double spread illustrations for ‘The Nightingale’ By Hans Christian Andersen. I have taken the oriental theme of the story and made this my own through incorporating elements of existing patterns into my drawings, designing each page to allow for this as the focus.

I am currently expanding my interest into shorter projects such as giftcard designs and book covers to challenge my design skills. If you would like to see more of my work, please visit my website at:
