Lucy Grimwood
The work that I chose to display in the degree show is based on the use of maps. It reflects my interest in developing a sense of place, furthermore celebrating traditional physical maps that are disappearing due to developments in technology. I started the process by experimenting with traditional maps and transforming them into art of my own by creating different textures and layers that give the piece depth. The genesis of the project was created from visiting places and building sketchbooks from drawings made on location. I used the media of acrylic paint, pencil, colour pens and a water brush to develop my work.
