This years graduating students from both graphic design pathways have produce major projects that are more academically advanced, and with greater design excellence, than I’ve seen for some time. This varied array of innovative and original practice includes: progressive digital and online media production, experimental book formatting and editorial design, professionally executed branding and promotions, creative exploration of new letterforms and informed graphic ornament. Many projects display the high calibre of applied typography that the course has become known for.
All of you should be rightly proud of what you have achieved. It was once again a pleasure to support the design and development of the Degree Show publicity material, and I’m obviously proud to have been the supervisor of the ‘live’ World Oral Literature Project, with the opportunity to offer some expertise and advice in the production of a typeface for this important global undertaking.
I know your lecturers look forward to watching all your careers develop over the coming years. Take our best wishes with you, and remain in touch.
